Chandler’s Gambling Corner: Week 5 Picks

Welcome back to Chandler’s Gambling Corner. Since Utah decided to lose to Memphis, our parlay did not hit last time. After going 2-2, we are 12-16-1 overall and still up $28.01. We have a large sleight of games today, so let’s win some money.

Like always, all lines pulled from

Bet #1: New York to cover the spread (-2.5) against Cleveland for -115 odds. The SexLand led Cavs have already beat the Knicks once in Madison Square Garden and I do not think they can do it again. New York is probably the more talented team, plus they have a significant size advantage on the Cavs.

Bet #2: The over (210.5) in Cleveland at New York for -115 odds. Neither one of these teams plays that fast and they both do not score much. However, I expect both teams to be running up and down in a game that will feature very little defense. It might be ugly, but I expect the score to be a little higher than this number.

Bet #3: Houston to cover the spread (-7.5) against Portland. The Rockets have been rolling lately. Not only has their offense been clicking, but their defense has been among the top of the league during their hot-streak. I don’t think the Blazers have the resources to guard James Harden or a refreshed Russell Westbrook, and I think the Rockets will be fine guarding the Blazer’s elite duo. I think Houston wins this game by double-digits. However, if betting on Portland to lose by at least 8 points makes you queasy, I have a compromise for you. If you want a little extra security, I would recommend throwing around a quarter to half a unit on the Portland money line (+270). I recognize that Damian Lilard and C.J. McCollum can carry Portland to a win almost any night, plus Houston can have a bad shooting night any time. The +270 payout is a good hedge if you are unsure.

Bet #4: Los Angeles Clippers to cover the spread (-9.5) against Oklahoma City for -110 odds. Tonight will be the first night we see Kawhi Leonard and Paul George suiting up together for the Clippers. Paul George has looked great so far this season and I do not think the Thunder will have a viable way to guard either. The Clippers should win big at home.

Bet #5:

Parlay of the week: Clippers to cover the spread, New York money line, and the Houston money line, resulting in a final payout of $416.08. This parlay is just a combination of everything I have already mentioned. I expect the Clippers to cover, so I have left that the same, while switching to the money line for New York and Houston for extra security.
